Expert PvE Mode
I dunno about you, but I'm currently level 20 and I feel no particular reason in ever returning to Ascalon and the local areas anymore. There's just no challenge there waiting for me. If I party up with friends, there's even less challenge. I can even go and solo most of the early areas by myself, let alone party with weak henchmen 17 levels lower.
So here's my proposal:
In each city, outpost, town, etc., under the district listing, there is an Expert district. Upon entering that district, your party size is maximized to 8 members total. Upon leaving the district, you will be able to fight monsters 20 levels higher than they should be. this means monsters' levels will range from 20 to 50. I'm sure that'll give us level 20's some more challenge and definite replayability.
I don't know about you, but I like to explore. I addition to exploring, I'd like to fight hard monsters on the way and take them down. It gives all the more meaning to exploration. And alongside that, with level 20+ monsters, people should be able to gain skill points a bit faster due to the increased EXP given. This way, we won't have to farm places like perdition rock over and over in order to gain that dreaded skill point.
Granted having monsters at level 50 may be too much for us, but hey, what's this game about? It's about skill. And no matter how much people say there's little skill involved in it, they will have to exercise it if the monsters are indeed at level 50 and if us players are level 20.
Potential Problems:
This may make it too easy for new members to power level. They can probably pay some guy in an expert district for 5k each level. That's a definite potential exploit. To solve this, we can limit the expert levels for those who have ascended AND beaten the final mission. Why do I say both? Because there are some who will still run from Beacon's Perch to the Forge and then they can exploit the system. This gives a bit of reward to those who have played through the game properly.
Granted, if Anet was to implement something like this, they don't have to do it word for word. Anything can be changed around to suit their liking and if it's better, we will benefit from it.
